The Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project is proud to announce that founding Board Member Steve Clemens will receive the 2012 Vincent L. Hawkinson Foundation for Peace and Justice Honorary Award. Now in its 24th year, the Hawkinson Foundation annually recognizes the contribution of one or more persons who have demonstrated a lifetime commitment to furthering human rights and advocacy for peace and justice in the world.

Clemens also serves on the board of Pax Christi Twin Cities Area and served as a member of the MN Peace Team during the Republican National Convention in 2008. In December 2002 he was part of the Iraq Peace Team that traveled to Iraq prior to the “shock and awe” bombing. In March 2011 Clemens traveled to Afghanistan to plant trees for peace with the Afghan Youth Peace Volunteers.

You can watch a video of Steve talking about IARP here:

  1. Very proud of Steve as a member of Veterans for Peace, Chapter 27 as is Steve. VFP has moved to a new office space in the West Bank neighborhood of Minneapolis and we are re-energized in our new space. We look forward to working with Steve and the IARP to promote the healing process brought about by way too many wars.
