Video / Motion Graphics

Are you passionate about video and storytelling? Do you want to use your creativity to help Americans see beyond stereotypes and build international peace? Join IARP and put your motion graphics and editing skills to work for positive social change.

The Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project is seeking a motivated self-starter for a Video / Motion Graphics internship or volunteer position focused on our Water for Peace program. The intern or volunteer will play a key role in sharing IARP’s message, working closely with staff on the production of online videos. Given the emphasis on web-based video, new media will be a large focus of this internship. An opportunity to play a key role in an emerging organization, the intern or volunteer will have the benefit of working closely with IARP staff and engaging around issues including technology, new media, peace, art, non-profit management, film, and education.

Responsibilities include:

  • Playing a key role in our media strategy.
  • Producing and editing compelling stories through online video and graphic-based story-telling.
  • Contributing to the production of other branded marketing materials.
  • Photography and/or graphic design a possibility.

Additional Information:

  • Approximately 10-25 hours per week (or as determined by selected applicant’s schedule).

  • Specific dates of internship or volunteer position are negotiable.
  • Internship or volunteer position available immediately.
  • Because this is a web-based position, applicant need not be located in Minnesota, where IARP’s offices are.
  • Compensation: this is an unpaid position. Selected applicant will gain significant experience in using new media for social change and will play a key role in our media strategy. If you are a student, optional college credit can be offered through your university.
  • Position open until filled.

Experience and Qualification:

  • Passion for peace, justice and technology for social change.
  • Background in media, specifically motion graphics experience and proficiency in After Effects and/or Motion.
  • Proficiency with open video and social media strategies a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Mac OSX platforms.
  • Confident in using social media and social networking.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Graphic design a plus.
  • Interest in and knowledge of: international relations, peace and justice issues, emerging technology, and/or non-profit administration a plus.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and perform a wide variety of tasks.
  • Professional and passionate with a committed work ethic.

About the Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project (IARP):

The Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project (IARP) partners with the Muslim Peacemaker Teams (MPT) in Iraq to build communities of peace and establish long-term, personal connections between Iraqis and Americans. Our programs include exchanging handwritten letters between Iraqi and American students, expanding a Sister City relationship between Minneapolis and Najaf, showcasing Iraqi art in the U.S., educating local schools and communities about Iraq and nonviolence, and partnering with Iraqis to provide clean water for Iraqi schools and hospitals.
