About the Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project (IARP):

The Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project (IARP) partners with the Muslim Peacemaker Teams (MPT) in Iraq to build thriving communities of peace and establish long-term, personal connections between Iraqis and Americans. By partnering Iraqis and Americans in community development, art, and peace-building projects, we are helping to rebuild Iraq and peaceful international relations. Our programs include exchanging handwritten letters between Iraqi and American students, expanding a Sister City relationship between Minneapolis and Najaf, showcasing Iraqi art in the U.S., educating local schools and communities about Iraq and nonviolence, and partnering with Iraqis to provide clean water for Iraqi schools and hospitals.

Special Events & Fundraising Internship:
The Special Events & Fundraising Intern will assist with the planning, organization, and implementation of public events, including house parties, an art show, events with visiting Iraqis, educational programming, and fundraising. The intern will be responsible for the solicitation of sponsorships, support in the development and distribution of event materials, recruitment of volunteers, and making sure events run smoothly. The intern will also assist staff with other various fundraising activities.

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

• Organized, detail-oriented, excellent follow-through
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Internet research. Additional graphic design experiences a plus
• Ability to manage time and work effectively without close supervision
• Interest in international relations, peace-building, or international non-profit organizations helpful.

Internship Details:

• At least 15 hours per week.
• Specific dates of internship are negotiable.
• Compensation: this is an unpaid internship. Intern will gain significant experience working with a small, international, non-profit organization.
