Leaving a Legacy of Reconciliation

The Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project works hard to promote peace and reconciliation: we restore relationships between Iraqis and Americans, help to rebuild Iraq, and work to end war.

Our donors entrust us with the resources needed to realize our mission. In turn, we want to inform our donors about the range of effective, tax-efficient methods to meet their charitable giving goals.

How Can I Make A Planned Gift?

Make a bequest to IARP through your will.

Depending on your family’s needs, there are several options for naming IARP in your will, including:

  • § a general bequest specifying a sum to IARP
  • § a percentage bequest to IARP
  • § a residuary bequest, which donates everything remaining in your estate after bequests to family and heirs
  • § a contingent bequest leaving your bequest to IARP should your beneficiary have died
  • § a testamentary trust fund that takes effect only after your death.

Bequest Language

You can remember IARP with a bequest in your will when you have your will prepared or have your existing will reviewed by your attorney.  Please use our legal name “Iraqi-MN Art Project” and federal tax ID number 26-0545027.

Here is a sample bequest which will leave IARP a specified sum from your estate:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Iraqi-MN Art Project with offices at 416 E. Hennepin Ave #116, Minneapolis, MN 55414, federal tax ID number 26-0545027, or its successors in interest, the sum of $ for its most urgent needs as determined by its Board of Trustees.

Here is a bequest which will leave IARP a percentage of what remains in your estate after all other bequests and expenses have been paid:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Iraqi-MN Art Project with offices at 416 E. Hennepin Ave #116, Minneapolis, MN 55414, federal tax ID number 26-0545027, or its successors in interest,  % of my residual estate for its most urgent needs as determined by its Board of Trustees.

Gifts through bequests are used by IARP where need is greatest in a given year.  Donors are also welcome to specify a bequest for a particular program or division of IARP or its endowment.  Always consult a tax or legal advisor when considering a planned gift.

Name IARP as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, insurance policy, or financial account.

Another way to leave a legacy gift to IARP is to include us as a beneficiary of your retirement plan (such as an IRA), insurance policy, or financial account.  In return for your gift, you may receive an immediate income tax deduction, reduction in capital gains, or other potential benefit.  Again, please use our legal name and tax ID number when designating IARP as a beneficiary.
